Campus
The University of Victoria is very centrally located in the Gordon Head area. Downtown Victoria can be reached from the campus in just under 20 minutes and is easy to get around, whether on foot or by bus. Victoria offers a wide range of activities for tourists and residents alike – from sailing to museum visits to whale and wildlife watching.
At first glance, the grounds of the University of Victoria, with their many trees, flowers and ponds, look like one large park that invites you to go jogging, play Frisbee or relax with friends. The university buildings and lecture halls as well as the dormitories are all within walking distance of each other. The English Language Center is located very centrally in the middle of the university grounds.
Architecturally, the Cornett Building stands out: It is a prime example of modernism. Its long corridors have already misled many students on their way to the next lecture, which has now become a proverbial “running gag” at the university.

The college town of Victoria
Located on Vancouver Island, Victoria is the capital of the Canadian province of British Columbia.
The city was founded in 1843 when it was of great importance as a port city, especially for the fur trade. The city on the Pacific was named after Queen Victoria of England, who ruled Canada for a long time.
The British flair can still be clearly felt today and it is not for nothing that Victoria is called “Canada’s most British city”. This is noticeable in the building and lifestyle, as well as in the red double-decker buses that drive through the city. The climate is very mild, temperatures above 30°C or below 0°C are rarely measured.
The city center is characterized by its attractive pedestrian zone and numerous bars and shops. In addition, Victoria has many sights such as the Houses of Parliament and the Royal British Columbia Museum. Canada is known for its particularly multicultural society, which of course also applies to the state of British Columbia.
Major occupations in Victoria are in tourism, education and government. Banking and technology companies are also increasingly settling here. Victoria has an airport and is connected to Vancouver and Washington State by ferry. Victoria is one of the few cities in North America where distances can still be walked and nature can be reached in minutes.
