University of New Brunswick – Saint John
SAINT JOHN, KANADA
Brief information
According to AbbreviationFinder, founded in 1785 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, the University of New Brunswick, originally King’s College, is one of the oldest universities in North America and the oldest English -speaking university in Canada.
At the UNB, great importance is attached to training at a high level. In the 2013 Maclean’s University Survey, the university was once again included in the ” Top Five Comprehensive Universities “.
In addition to a semester abroad, international students can also complete a bachelor’s degree here or take a language course. In total, the university offers more than 75 different courses. The students are supported in all matters so that they can achieve optimal learning results. This works not least because of the relatively small groups in which the professors can supervise their students individually.
In 1964 the university’s second campus was established at Saint John. About 3,000 students study here in the fields of Arts or Business as well as Science, Applied Science and Engineering.

Campus
The University of New Brunswick has two campuses in the Province of New Brunswick. One of them is in Saint John.
Established in 1964, UNB’s Saint John campus is the smaller of the two campuses, with approximately 3,000 students. The campus is located a few miles north of downtown Saint Johns in Tucker Park, near Millidgeville. The campus has a very good view of the Kennebecasis River and Grand Bay.
Immediately adjacent to the campus is New Brunswick’s largest hospital, Saint John Regional Hospital. Among other things, it is also used for the work of the university’s new medical school.
Unlike the main campus in Fredericton, most of the students here do not live on campus but in private accommodation within walking distance of the university.

The college town of Saint John
Saint John is the largest city by area in the Canadian province of New Brunswick and has approximately 68,000 inhabitants within the city area and approximately 122,000 with the regional catchment areas of the city.
The city lies along the north shore of the Bay of Fundy and at the mouth of the Saint John River. Due to its location by the sea and the estuary, Saint John has a high recreational value; the so-called “Reversing Falls” are particularly worth seeing. Due to the very high tidal differences in the Bay of Fundy, which can amount to up to 14 meters, there is a reversal of the flow direction of the river in the mouth area of the Saint John River and a section with a very rocky river bed for a natural spectacle which is different called “Reversing Falls”.
But the Cherry Brook Zoo or the nearby St. Martins Caves are also worth a visit. In the uptown of Saint John there are numerous shopping opportunities in boutiques and shopping centers, then many restaurants, cafes and the harbor passage invite you to visit.
