Brief information

According to AbbreviationFinder, Swinburne University of Technology was founded in 1908 with the aim of providing everyone in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs with a technical education. It was named after its founder, immigrant George Swinburne, who was a very successful and educated businessman in the late 19th century.

In the meantime, the small college has developed into a world-renowned university with courses at the highest level, which works closely with companies from the private sector. In this way, the reality of the courses and the later employability of the students in professional life are guaranteed. The core competencies of the university lie in the areas of science, technology, business, design and innovation.

But the university has also made a very good name for itself in the field of research : The Academic Ranking of World Universites, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and the QS World University Rankings rank Swinburne University of Technology among the best universities in the world. The university offers a huge selection of subjects with various degrees, from professional training to a bachelor’s, master’s or PhD

. It is divided into three faculties: the Faculty of Business and Law, the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology and the Faculty of Health, Arts and Design.

During their studies, students have the opportunity to participate in lectures, tutorials, practical and workshop sessions, group work, interdisciplinary projects, case studies, discussion groups and individual research projects, depending on the course chosen. There are the so-called International Student Advisors, who support the students in both academic and personal matters.
