Campus
The main campus of San Jose State University is located in central San Jose, midway between San Francisco and the Monterey/Carmel area on the sunny south end of San Francisco Bay. It’s easy to get to from the freeways.
There are more than 50 buildings on 62 hectares. The oldest are Tower Hall, Morris Dailey Auditorium, Washington Square Hall and Dwight Bentel Hall, all built in 1881.
Because most of the students live directly on campus or in the surrounding area, there is a very pleasant and communal atmosphere.
In addition, there is the 25-acre South Campus, which is a mile and a half from the main campus. Here you will find the Spartan Stadium, sports fields and the Spartan Village. Shuttle buses run between the South Campus and Main Campus every 10 to 15 minutes on weekdays.

The City of San José
With a population of around 900,000, San José in pleasantly warm California is one of the ten largest cities in the USA and lies within the informal boundaries of “Silicon Valley”.
San Francisco is only 50 kilometers away and can be reached quickly by train. Another attractive destination is Lake Tahoe, which can be reached in three hours and should be particularly interesting for water sports enthusiasts; San Francisco Bay is closer to San José, only 15 kilometers away.
However, you don’t have to leave the city in order to spend your free time; you can also do a lot in San José. There are various museums and cultural centers such as the Tech Museum of Innovation or the San José Museum of Art. If you prefer to stay in the fresh air, visit the Municipal Rose Garden or the Japantown district.
There are various bars and clubs for going out and partying – there is something for everyone.
