Gboard Beta Adds Google Translator Directly on The Keyboard

Yesterday we learned of the new public beta of Gboard and Google Play Services and today we already have the first fruits of the same: the version 6.1 of the Google keyboard which includes translation of text on the keyboard and a new themes selector.

If you want to try some magic on your Android, sign up in the Gboard beta and try the new translation of text. Instead of writing a text, translate it, and then paste it, the translation happens while you write, in real time.

Translation of text

You’ll find the new option after touching on the Google button in the top bar (note that this button is not always displayed). In the row of icons, including audio search, options and themes adds a new icon: the of the translator.

The translation happens online, so you must take into account that what you write will be sent to Google servers for translation. You need, in fact, accept a window that you just know it.

After hitting the button, a window opens in the upper part of the keyboard showing a bar to select the language of input and output, and a small box to write. The list of languages is the same as Google Translate.

Perhaps the funniest of the matter is that while you write the translation is automatically you are writing in the chosen language. For example, you write “Hello” and the keyboard sends “Hello” to the application directly. In this way, it is pretty fast to use an additional application, as the translator of Google.

Themes selector

In addition to the new translator, Gboard changes the selector of themes introduced in version 5.1, when it was still called Google keyboard. Same as in the previous case, the option is found after pressing on the Google button.

The new switch is not very different from the old, and the main difference that are now in different rows solid colors of background for the keyboard images.

If you want to try the new keyboard of Google translator and new themes selector, you can sign up in version beta, Gboard, download the APK from APKMirror or wait for the novelty to be added to the stable version.
