Campus
Western modernity and Chinese tradition meet on the Fudan campus. This is reflected in the versatile architecture of the buildings as well as in the structure of the entire site. There are many green spaces and ponds where you can relax between classes. There is also a library, restaurants, a sports hall, a swimming pool, various shops and a post office directly on campus.
The university is structured according to the “one body, two wings” principle. The “body”, that is, the main site, consists of the Handan campus and the new Jiangwan campus. Most faculties are located here. Gradually, more disciplines are being moved to the Jiangwan campus, so that today it is already home to the School of Law, among other things. The two smaller “wings,” the Fenglin and Zhangjiang campuses , are home to the medical center and hi-tech colleges.
All four locations are also relatively close together. The main locations in Handan and Jiangwan are within walking distance and the locations in Fenglin and Zhangjiang can be easily reached from the city center by public transport or by taxi.

The university city of Shanghai
With more than 18.5 million inhabitants in the urban area and more than 20 million in the metropolitan area, the port city of Shanghai is the largest city in China in terms of numbers. Shanghai is located on China’s central east coast near the mouth of the Yangtze River (Chang Jiang), the longest river in Asia. The city of Shanghai has the status of a province and as such is under the direct administration of the Chinese central government.
Originally, Shanghai was a city that lived primarily from fishing and the textile industry. However, in the course of the 19th century, due to the port and its favorable location, it became one of the favored places for trade between East and West. Trade relations made Shanghai a multinational exchange for finance and business, and trade flourished here, particularly in the 1930s. However, this economic boom due to foreign trade relations ended in 1949 when the communist central government took over the government. Since 1990, the Chinese economy has opened up again to western countries. Due to economic reforms and a more open policy, from which Shanghai benefited enormously both economically and in its development, Shanghai is today one of the most important financial trading locations. The port is also one of the largest and most important cargo ports in the world, as large parts of Asian products are shipped all over the world via this port.
Shanghai has a lot to offer especially for tourists. Not only the skyline of Shanghai with its numerous skyscrapers and many unusual buildings is worth seeing. Above all, Shanghai shows the modern and progressive side of China, caused by the construction boom of the past few years. However, more and more value is being placed on green spaces and nature within the city. In addition to the modern side of the city, there is also a chance to look back at Shanghai in the 1920s in The Bund, along the Huangpu River that divides the city in two. The former financial center has numerous colonial buildings, which also show European influences, and thus forms an interesting contrast to modern Shanghai on the other side of the river. The city’s temples and small parks are also worth seeing. Of course, there are also numerous shopping opportunities in Shanghai. Nanjing Road is China’s top shopping address. The best way to get around in Shanghai is by public transport, such as the numerous buses or taxis. But the modern metro is constantly being expanded and, above all, offers the possibility of escaping the increasing traffic. With two airports, Hongqiao International and Pudong International, Shanghai is also easy to reach from all over the world.
