The college town of San Marcos (CA)
San Marcos is a steadily growing small town in Southern California with a current population of around 76,000. In addition to many beautiful parks, there are numerous good restaurants. A particularly wide range of ethnic, but also typically American restaurants can be found in the so-called “Old California Restaurant Row”, which also hosts a weekly farmer’s market.
Due to its location, San Marcos is above all an excellent starting point for excursions into the region, such as to the popular beaches of Southern California or the deserts and mountains inland. Swimming, surfing, climbing, golfing, snowboarding or skiing – all these sports can be practiced all year round. Disneyland and Sea World tourist attractions are also only an hour to an hour and a half away.
If you are looking for big city hustle and bustle, you also have a choice: Los Angeles in the north is around 160km away, and San Diego in the south is only 50km away.
