California State University Chico
CHICO, UNITED STATES
Founded in 1887 as Chico State Normal School, California State University Chico, also known as “Chico State”, is the second oldest university in the entire network of California State Universities and was initially intended to train teachers.
Today it offers a friendly and safe learning environment for students from all over the world. Every year, several hundred students from over 55 countries come to Chico to complete a semester abroad or a language course.
According to AbbreviationFinder, the course and seminar groups are limited in the number of participants, so that individual support from the professors is possible. The aim is to create a positive and personal learning atmosphere – the ratio of students to teachers is 25 to 1, with the average number of course participants in the bachelor’s programs not exceeding 31.
A wide range of courses are available at the university’s seven colleges, five schools and 28 centers. The most popular areas at the moment are Business Administration, Liberal Studies, Psychology, Construction Management, Prenursing/Nursing and others.

Campus
The main campus of CSU Chico is in the middle of the city. Here you will find the four-story Meriam Library, all departments and other important facilities such as Kendall Hall, built in 1929, where the administration is based. However, the oldest building on campus is Colusa Hall, built in 1921. It is now used as an art gallery and venue.
There are nine footbridges on campus that cross Big Chico Creek. In addition, there are hundreds of trees, a rose garden, old brick buildings and plenty of benches to sit on – all in all a beautiful, picturesque atmosphere.
There is also a farm attached to the university and a dormitory compound about a mile from the main campus. In addition, CSU Chico has jurisdiction over the nearby Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve and Butte Creek Ecological Reserve.

The college town of Chico
The city of Chico, founded in 1860, has about 87,000 inhabitants and is located in “Butte County” in the American state of California. Around 212,000 people live in the entire catchment area of the city. Chico is the cultural and economic center of the northern Sacramento Valley and is also an educational center in the region through California State University Chico. The city’s nickname is “City of Roses”. For 23 years, Chico was also one of the so-called Tree Citys of the National Arbor Day Foundation, which requires a special reforestation and tree conservation program. Although the Sacramento Valley has a very agricultural character, it is also economically important.
Worth seeing in Chico are Bidwell Park, which is one of the ten largest municipal parks in the USA, but also the brewery of the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company. Chico is also a bike-friendly city and was named the number one bike city in the United States by US Bicycle Magazine in 1997, so there are numerous bike paths and trails that also lead through the beautiful countryside outside of the city.
