How to Remove Sweat Stains from a Baseball Hat

As your activity head sweat or exposure to the sun, sweat solos band your baseball cap, fabric and bill.The sweat leaves noticeable spots that are unattractive and smelly. Over time, the stains increase in size and eventually cover the entire surface. You do not have to throw away your baseball caps or suffer from stains and odors. You can remove sweat stains from your baseball caps at home using solutions that do not damage fabric and hat band.

Things You’ll Need

  • Lemon juice
  • Warm water
  • Bowl
  • Latex gloves
  • Spoon
  • Sink stopper
  • Mild detergent
  • Big towel
  • Sodium bicarbonate
  • Toothbrush
  • White vinegar
  • The coffee may or other object shaped head-

Use a lemon mixture

  • Mix 1 cup lemon juice and 1 cup hot water in a pan.Wear latex gloves to keep your hands dry.The mixture is shaken with a spoon.
  • Use a sink stopper to connect to your kitchen or bathroom sink.Put your baseball hat in the sink and pour the lemon mixture over the sweat stains.
  • Let the mixture rest for four hours.
  • Turn off the sink and rinse the baseball cap thoroughly with warm water.Apply 1 tbsp. Mild detergent to a soft cloth or towel. Wet the cloth or towel with warm water.
  • Dry your baseball cap gently with the cloth or a cloth while you move the hat under the water to remove any remaining dirt from your hat.
  • Wash the hat thoroughly once it is free of dirt.

Put your hat on a large towel and press to remove as much water as possible. Let your hat air dry over a coffee can or other shaped head object.

Use a mixture of baking soda

  • Mix 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of hot water in a pan.Wear latex gloves to keep your hands dry. Use a spoon to stir the mixture into a paste.
  • Put your baseball cap on a sink.Use a brush to apply the paste to the sweat stains.

Rub the stains gently with the toothbrush then apply one teaspoon. Of white vinegar for each stain of sweat. Continue rubbing the stains until they are gone.

  • Wash the baseball cap with warm water.Apply 1 tbsp. Mild detergent to a soft cloth or towel.Wet the cloth or towel with warm water. Dry your baseball cap gently with the cloth or a cloth while you move the hat under the water to remove any dirt remaining dirt from your hat.
  • Wash the hat thoroughly once it is free of dirt.
  • Put your hat on a large towel and press to remove as much water as possible from your hat.Let your hat air dry over a coffee can or other head-shaped object.

Tips & Warnings

  • When cleaning a wool baseball cap, wipe the hat – do not rub the wool fabric. This will make the fibers of the hat mat together.
  • Do not put the baseball cap on a drier – your hat will shrink.
